This one was close to home. Our shop is in Riverside, so when Holmes Landscaping called about backup power for their office, we didn’t have far to go.
They wanted the whole place covered. Not a couple of circuits, not a portable out in the driveway with extension cords running through a window. When the power goes out, everything in the building keeps running like nothing happened. That’s what a whole house system does.
Why We Went With a 26kW
Sizing is the part people get wrong. Go too small and the generator can’t carry the load when everything kicks on at once. Go way too big and you paid for capacity you’ll never use. For a property where the owner wants everything powered, heat, well, fridge, office equipment, all of it, a 26kW gives you room to breathe without overspending.
Before we quote any generator, we look at what’s actually in the panel and what the customer needs running during an outage. That’s how we land on a size, not by guessing.
The Install
We set the unit on a concrete pad along the stone wall, out of the way but easy to get to for service. From there it’s wired into an automatic transfer switch. When the power drops, the transfer switch senses it, the generator starts on its own, and the building is back up in seconds. Nobody has to go outside in a storm and pull a cord.
If you live around here you know why this matters. Riverside sits right on the bay, and between nor’easters, ice storms, and summer thunderstorms knocking trees into lines, we lose power more than anybody would like. A standby generator takes that off your list of worries.
